I LOVE that band. Although I've heard that their new record is disappointing, I still haven't gotten around to listening to it. Takk, ( ), and Agaetis Byrjun are all outstanding though.

They're probably my favorite post-rock band, mind blowing stuff.

I don't think these bands are too keen on being termed as "post-rock", but it does make it simpler to classify and describe them to people. But yeah if you dig Godspeed, you'll surely like at least some of those bands. Especially if you can appreciate the pacing of some of Godspeed's songs, they have a far more minimalist sound than most of the other bands I mentioned.

haha I could go on and on about this stuff, I love it. My favorites:

Stars of the Lid
This Will Destroy You
Godspeed You! Black Emperor
Yndi Halda
Belong
Mono
Sigur Ros
Eluvium
Explosions on the Sky
Rachel's
65daysofstatic
Chihei Hatakeyama

I'm sorry to hear about your mom, that's rough. I hope you're doing well man.

You ever listen to any post-rock/ambient type stuff? You might really dig it.

But yeah dude, no use being involved in a career that you don't enjoy. Good luck with your venture into Librarianism (yeah, I made that up haha).

oh and by the way, I have Faith Or Fear's lp Punishment Area, was a little disappointed, not so much a fan of that style. I usually stick to Heathen and Forbidden for the singier bay area style stuff.

I'm glad you finally realized the awesomeness of Witchcraft... I remember when the No Angel Or Demon single came out and you thought it was very derivative . probably my favorite current band.

even though I've been listening to a bit of death metal this month it's really a change for me to even be listening to that, for most of 2007/2008 I've been listening to almost exclusively thrash and NWOBHM... doom's always been a big one for me though.

I've been doing a blog for thrash and 80's metal... response has been pretty good so far. click here for link

that's a shame to hear man. I'm glad you're overcoming it though.

I'm always trying to start bands with people that say they're interested but I only have one band that actually gets together and does shit. I really wanna do a Pentagram/Celtic Frost/Carnivore-ish heavy doomy riffladen 80's band more than anything else right now.

I'm doing pretty well. breaking out of a nearly 3 month bout of unemployment with a new job, playing some shows in a sweet powerviolence band, living with my best friend, listening to a lot of early (Eye For An Eye and demo era) COC, riding bikes. yourself?
