in our paper where i live this was on the like third page. It makes very little sense that the most dangerous school shooting or on of the most dangerous shootings in general since Columbine is getting thrown around like eh people die everyday. The Terry Schiavo article was on our front page while this was on the third. HOw much sense does that make, one person dying as apposed to about 8.

The magnitude of the Terry Schiavo case is much greater, however. Yes, she is only one person, but the decision Congress makes will create a precident for all Euthanasia cases of this nature. Kids shooting classmates is not really a taboo issue. There are not a whole lot of people out their advocating that kids should go into school and shoot their classmates and teachers. The vast majority of society sees that as wrong. Euthanasia, on the other hand, is a hotly debated issue.

I don't know if you remeber, but here in Boston their was a shooting a couple years back. A pregnant woman named Lydia Rivera was shot on the Orange Line of the MBTA. She was over eight months into her pregnancy at the time, and the shooting forced her into premature labor. The baby died shortly after; Lydia, however, lived. The media made a huge deal out of it, and do you think that actually gave a damn about Lydia or her baby? Of course not! This was an abortion issue. If the courts decided to rule the death of the baby as murder it was a big score for pro-lifers, and if they ruled the shooting as simply an attack on the woman, and not the fetus, than is was a score for pro-choicers. They ended up charging the man for the shooting of the woman, and assault or something like that on the fetus... sort of a middle-ground I guess.

It makes a ton of sence bc the Schiavo case deserves attention, and kids who mimic other kids to be badass or to make a lame point do not.

I'm not nuts. I just think giving ANOTHER school shooting the front page is stupid (and exactly what the murderer wanted). The Schiavo case will completely change this country forever. That is important.

Oh I don't think it should have been important, but it is now. It is very important now.

Kids are too. Maybe when one shoots up his or her school, the front page story should be about kids and guns, maybe about if cops should even have guns in this country (or at least after they retire). Maybe it should be about violence education and how kids get these ideas. Maybe the front page should be a psychological study of copy-cat crime and where kids get the idea to do this. Maybe it should be a study of what is psychologically affecting the kids that do these things; or what the kids already in jail for these kinds of crimes say now about what they would have done/should have done/how they feel about life and themselves. It shouldn't be a big picture of the gory aftermath and the kid(s) mug shots or school picture. That just makes them look "cool" to some people (like other fucked-up kids).

It makes perfect sense... given that the Terry Shiavo case only came to the fore of american politics, causing Bush to delay a trip to his toy ranch, something he didn't even do for the begining of a war... on the second anniversary of the war in Iraq.

It's a clusterbomb of fake sympathy and crocodile tears to distract us from this aniversary and all the lives this needless war has caused.

He was a native american National Socialist, actually. I feel bad for the guy- a friend has been showing me his posts on some message boards- he seems pretty cool. I wish I knew him online, he'd have been much better off.

" The Natives you've known to be sympathetic to the cause (National Socialism) are probably one's who've experienced first hand what kind of problems cultural and race mixing can cause. As a result of cultural dominance and interracial mixing there is barely any full blooded Natives left. Where I live less than 1% of all the people on the Reservation can speak their own language, and among the youth wanting to be black has run ramped. We have kids my age killing each other over things as simple as a fight, and it's because of the rap influence. Wannabe-gangsters everywhere, I can't go 5 feet without hearing someone blasting some rap song over their speakers.

Under a National Socialist government, things for us would improve vastly. That is, if we haven't already become too soft from the way this materialistic life-style has made us, and that is why I am pro-Nazi. It's hard though, being a Native American National Socialist, people are so misinformed, ignorant, and close minded it makes your life a living hell, but I know if we achieve what we set out to, it will be worth it all."

I only read the first post and gave my opinion to why it isn't bigger news. I'd bet if it happened at the high school I went to in this suburban haven with low crime and a bunch of rich white people it would have been news of Columbine esque proportions. I might be wrong, but that is my first reaction.

^ok, lets start with two knowns... the american media in general knows dick about A. Native Americans and B. "neonazi-ism", skinheads, and the like.

There has been little truly newsworthy posted about this story yet... then again, it is only one day after... and the wonderful american press, which severely limits the number of stories they cover hasn't proven too interested in the story... hmmm.. possibly because no affluent white kids died...

Still, it's probably the most stupid party name ever. If they'd leave the word 'libertarian' out of it, it'd make some sense.

Yeah but they are only National and Socialist in terms of culture and values- their governmental policy is Libertarian.

.

Their not even using Euthanasia drugs, so it isnt even euthanasia. That would make more sense. and obviously the majority of scoiety doesnt see that shooting is bad i mean if that were the case why would there be so many murders out there, in my old town there has been 9 shooting murders in the past 4 days, and its not even on the most dangerous list. todays youth matters, yes the terry schiavo case matters, of course but how can you say its more important than 10 kids and two adults DYING, those other people that died besides the shooter had no way of even knowing wat was going on, their gone and no one even had preparation for it.

if terri shiavo dies, the door to youth in asia is left open. america doesn't want this communist crap. aside from that major issue, mr shiavo has been accused of trying to kill mrs shiavo with insulin shots. kids being shot is school only means parents don't know how to raise their kids anymore.
