Over a dozen Trump advisers, cabinet members and campaign donors appear in leaked data detailing evidence of tax evasion among high-ranking politicians and the super wealthy
'Paradise papers' expose tax evasion schemes of the global elite
Reporters have unveiled some 13.4 million secret documents detailing evidence of tax evasion among high-ranking politicians and the super wealthy. Some in US President Donald Trump's cabinet have been implicated.
Some 400 reporters from 67 countries have scoured 13.4 million secret documents and uncovered tax-evasion techniques used by the super rich and high-ranking politicians, German media reported on Sunday.
The leaked data was obtained by German newspaper Süddeutsche Zeitung, which said that the majority of the documents stem from offshore law firm Appleby, which was founded in Bermuda but has offices in several other locations. The company reported last month that it had been hacked.
The documents, dubbed the "Paradise Papers," appear to show ties between members of US President Donald Trump's cabinet and Russian firms.
As Trump's cabinet takes form it is being revealed as the most right wing in U.S. history, no exaggeration, and will be working in conjunction with a Republican Senate, House, and most likely soon a slanted Supreme Court, all under a unified agenda. There will be little recourse for even people with centrist politics. The left as a political entity here has already shifted pretty far to the right in the past few decades; it will now lurch even further right and may become unrecognizable as left at all. Which means that actual people on the actual left will become even more disenfranchised and unrepresented in a government and courts following a vector tacking hard to the right and likely once again using the same old legal mechanisms like drug laws, immigration, etc., to repress people. There was a pretty noticeable 'vibe' change between the 'freewheeling', grunge-soundtracked Clinton 90's and the nationalistic, 'proud to be an American' Bush 00's, and Trump's cabinet is already far to the right of Bush's.
