In reporting on a recent event Obama spoke at they described one of the other people there as a "failed baseball player" and another as a "noted anti-police activist".

Who were these two, you ask? Michael fucking Jordan and Carmelo Anthony.

Speaking of Faux news... lol@this from a FOX News analyst's politicizing Neil Armstrong's death:

As The Daily Dolt points out, the article Crowley cites is hardly damaging to the Obama administration.
In an interview last month on Al-Jazeera, NASA chief Charlie Bolden said that one of NASA's foremost tasks is to engage with Muslim nations. The White House disagreed, suggesting that the agency should perhaps focus on space exploration.

Also, why are we not talking about Fox News outing the marine who wrote that book? That needs a separate thread.

Which is to say that this was an outright lie from Fox.. which is not surprising in the least.

I hear constantly that MSNBC is just as bad as Fox. I've never seen MSNBC or any other media outlet go out of their way to describe the most famous basketball player of all time as simply a "failed baseball player". Its not just biased, its damned near racist.

I don't even think you're reaching with the "racist" comment because I thought it too. They couldn't possibly say a decorated (probably the best) basketball player ever supported Obama. I'm surprised they didn't bring up the financial problems he's been going through too.

"I hear constantly that MSNBC is just as bad as Fox."

The Great American Rhetorical Strategy of the past 20 years is false (and usually forced) equivalence.

I get this heated when people say democrats are just as psycho as republicans.

I would put this in the racist category. Failed baseball player? Really?

They always have fox news on at work. A lot of military people are Republicans and even they think they are crazy half the time.

I actually tried to dig deep recently, and I couldn't match the psychotic nature of people redefining rape or trying to revise history books to reflect dinosaurs and man living together. :/

Its not republicans faults as much as its the tea parties fault, though. Elected democrats are just pussies really.

I have a degree in journalism and can say without a doubt that Fox News is the farthest from true journalism --- by far. MSBNC doesn't even come close. At least MSNBC's punditry is on designated shows, not woven through the "news" all day long. Fox is the epitome of everything that is fucked up and horribly wrong in news today.

doesn't MSNC have Rachel Maddow? She is like the 2 Minutes Hate with a (probably scary) pussy. Olberman too. And that Ed guy?! It's like listening to lectures from my stupid football coaches- even when I was 14 I thought, "why do these dullards imagine that it is possible that I have an intellectual faith in them?"- how are you going to defend any of them? John Stewart is a better source of news.

I remember this segment from MSNBC in 2008. It was about the Drug War and how the Govt is gonna gitcha if you grow weed.

A soldier in full camo lowers himself down a line from a helicopter onto a pot plant growing half-concealed in a field.

Closeup- soldiers boots stomping on the plants.

Reporter cheerleading- The government is gonna find you! lol he said something like that!

Soldier re-harnesses to line dangling from helicopter.

Reporter hugs soldiers ass, puts his face in his crotch, and smiles into the camera as both are lifted out of frame heavenward!

that was a real segment! Like truly aired on television and called news!

(edit: for the record- I actually think rachel maddow is hot and want to play with grown up toys with her. She is still an awful voice to hear and is obviously not paid to educate me, but rather stimulate visceral aggression cues)

"how are you going to defend any of them?"

Uh, lets see.. because they actually ARE better than Fox news... no matter how bad one may find them to be on their own. ... which was my entire fucking point. That there is no real equivalence between Fox and other news organizations.

My issue with the "they're just as bad" argument is generally just that....they're not. Sure, all politicians are kind of awful by nature, but for every Alan Grayson the democrats have, there's easily 5 republicans who are worse.

Exactly. Slamming your hand in a car door is bad. Slamming your cock in a car door is worse (and fucking creepy... wtf were you doing, sicko?).. and given the sex scandals of the last few years among Republicans, that comparison seems incredibly apt.

Also, yes, Anthony Weiner. That is ONE... fucking ONE! The Republicans had a whole fucking mountain of closet cases, kiddie fuckers, johns, and assorted philanderers.

There's a lot of spin out there. To me, it doesn't matter who is worse about it; the minute I pick up on a slanted euphemism or a hint of bias I simply stop listening. Needless to say, I hardly follow the news anymore, they're all crooked as bobby pins and they all have agendas.
