I knew someone who had one, but decided to not use it for a few months. It was silly - because he would just be facebook messaging people constantly.

Although it's usually self-imposed Luddite bullshit rather than not being able to afford it. Same goes with dial-up internet. lol.

Yeah - my friend could afford it, he just thought it was "cool".

"Hey, name is Bryce. My parents raised me to believe that white liberal guilt will bring me a life devoid of personal adversity. Therefore, I used a cell only until I realized the message it would send to my white liberal allies who are constantly applying to the Peace Corps. See you on campus. I'll be the only jerkoff with a phone card in a 30 mile radius."

People that don't have cellphones but could afford it come off the same way as preachy vegans or straight edge kids who will certainly make sure that you know about it immediately after meeting them.

My cousin is about ten years older than me. He doesn't consistently "own" a cell phone, because he lives in one of the highest elevations of Colorado due to his outstanding debt to the IRS. His is also one of my heroes.

lol wut.

I live on a mountain so the feds can't find me.

i fantasize about getting rid of my cellphone all the time. I don't really think it would work, its not like i started getting a cell phone for no reason. I'm just sick of the electronic leash in my pocket thing. I'm mostly concerned about how to meet up with people. Now that everyone is used to cell phones, they get changed last minute constantly.

Just because you can does not mean that you should alter plans on a dime.

tonight at midnight, we all walk to our nearest verizon/at&t/whatever retail dealer, douse our phones in lighter fluid, and burn them. who's coming with me?

Yea, you go without one for awhile, get it back, and discover you didn't miss anything.
