Seeing as how we are taxed for everything these days and the tax code is so over the top. What do you guys think of the fair tax? Seems like a very simple way to get rid of a lot of the lobbyist and a more transparent way to see where our money goes. Of course politicians will never go for it because their goes their free money. Anybody have a problem with this idea?

the Fair Tax is the greatest idea ever to be thought of.

Politicians would still get paid, and poor people can finally stop complaining that they get taxed so much.

Is there where everyone pays the same percentage of their paycheck into tax? Whether you earn 100000000000 a year or 20000?

It seems like a pretty good idea...unfortunately I don't see the IRS going anywhere.

this is a tax where everyone pays the same amount of taxes on new goods and services.

and used goods are not taxed.

there's more to it, but its too much to write about.

I worry that taxing only what is bought might actually end up being a bad thing for the truly poor... those who pay no taxes now. It shows some promise, though.

It is different than the flat tax. Once it is taxed, it cannot be taxed again. It would take a truly huge step to take out the IRS but our economy would boom if we ever did. Here is the website if anyone is interested in checking out what it is about. The FAQ section is pretty good at answering any question you might have.

yeah I looked on wikipedia briefly, not really enough to have an opinion though (especially since i don't know much about other systems of tax either).
