That they will run the ball more against Denver...i fuckin hope so. We wont go anywhere throwing the ball 55 times a game.

You've got to go with experience over someone who's kicked only a few field goals. I'm sure they felt bad releasing France, but it's a business and the Eagles are ready to do whatever it takes to take them all the way after so many years of coming so close.

As for the running game, people need to stop being so retarded and accept the fact that in our west coast offense, the majority of our "runs" are short passes. People act like we're unable to run with the ball just because it might get tossed a yard to a player instead of just handing it to him. Yeah it officially goes down as a pass, but when the ball is caught so close to the line of scrimmage, pass coverage and protection barely even get to play a factor in the effectiveness of the play, and defenses play on the ball as if someone is running with it (because they are). Seriously, get over it. We all know Westbrook is better when he doesn't have to go up the middle but instead has more room to run and get his bursts of speed, so why not use that to our advantage instead of saying "well, we really SHOULD start handing the ball off and taking smaller plays instead of just tossing it off to the side or in a screen pass or something, because stats show that we don't do it enough." That's just retarded.

aside from the fact that i'm a Giants fan, I think Cortez is a bad move...pray that you don't need to count on him for any last second field goals. Larry Allen didn't try to rip his head off in Dallas for nothing.

Cortez isn't the greatest, but keep in mind, he's going to be kicking only kick-offs once Akers is back, so it's not a big deal. In comparison to France, Cortez was a good move only because we need someone more experienced for now.

And Dan, yeah I basically just said that.

^ that's what I thought about Akers - I was wondering if he(Akers) was further off from coming back than they thought and just didn't want to say anything yet.

I was surprised about Cortez as well becuase he has been missing a lot of field goals so far.

I hope andy reid will have westbrook and gordon running...we will probably be sloppy and not do well right away becuase we barely run the ball but you gotta start somehwere. Gordon seems like a bigger between the tackles type of back more so then westbrook so i'd like to see him get some more touches.

^In my eyes, our running game is the short pass. It works most of the time so why not stay with it. Westbrook is a small running back, so he's not going to be able to plow through as easily as say, Jerome Bettis. We just have to work on getting him room because he's a small dude.

Warrick Dunn is small, and he's been nasty running the ball all year (3rd in rushing yds.). Being small isn't an excuse as a starting NFL back because westbrook is roughly the same size as Tomlinson, Thomas Jones, Willie Parker, Tiki, and a few others (give or take an inch and 3-4 pounds)...he's just not all that tough a player, he RARELY takes hits and is more prone to run out of bounds...thats why they don't run the ball all that much, he's not a very good RUNNINGback, sure he can catch well...but he's not the answer to their rushing problems.

the only way westbrook can really get big yards are screen plays

Joe summed up what i was going to say. Short passes may as well runs. The CBS announcers last week were actually right and pointed that out last week.

I don't really buy the argument that short passes can simply be reduced to runs, but even if that is the case, there's still the reality that it wasn't really all those short passes that won the game against the Chargers in end.

In any case, the Denver/Eagles game will be a nice one to watch.
