Canadian emotional hardcore legends GRADE to play 2012 edition of THE FEST.
As a bit of recent news that has apparently flown… under the radar (see what I did there?), it has come to our attention here at Stereokiller.com that emotional hardcore pioneers GRADE have been added to the lineup of this years THE FEST in Gainesville, Florida. For those of you unfamiliar, the band released a number of records from the mid-to-late 90’s into the early 2000’s that would often attempted to be replicated for years to come, but with no one even getting close to finding the recipe that made GRADE as truly unique as they were. The combination of a hardcore foundation and indie rock sensibilities coupled with both melodic and harsh vocalizations made them stand out as pioneers in a burgeoning genre. For a taste of what I am speaking of, please get your hands on a copy of their timeless and iconic record Under the Radar.
THE FEST will be taking place in Gainesville, Florida on October 26, 27 & 28. You can find more info here.
I wrote this... not sure why it says Brickhouse is the author.
Anyway, yes... emotional hardcore. At the time they were around, they were considered to be a "screamo" band, but with how that term was slapped on any band that has sing-y and screamy parts now a days... I figured the reaction to using that term would be much more negative than that of "emotional hardcore"... which I feel to be fairly apt.
wtf.
