Salt Lake City's Gaza is fucking pissed. At least thats what I've gathered after listening to their new rager of an album, "No Absolutes In Human Suffering". Defying the odds of most grindcore production, everything here is nice and clear and "professional" sounding. But hell, I like to hear every instrument and all their nuances combining together to create the sonic assault pummeling my ears. 50 seconds of overdistorted sludge riffage greet you when you press play, only to give way to full on sludgy grind mayhem.
Vocalist Jon Parkin's screams are distorted and sound so forced that my throat hurts thinking about it. There is honestly no piece of the drumkit that isn't being beaten down every 3 seconds throughout the 40 minute LP. One of the highlights on "No Absolutes In Human Suffering" would have to be how well the tempo changes are executed. I love the transition from full on grind blast beats to slowed down D-Beat hardcore. Just as you get hooked and start moshing in your room, the pace picks back up leaving you wanting more. Further more on the production, many purists will bitch and moan about this album sounding too good, I for one am glad somebody stopped ripping off old Napalm Death.
To be rather blunt, fans of grindcore or heavier music in general are worth taking the time to check this LP out. Its street date is August 14th and its being released through the folks at Black Market Activities. If you're pissed about something, whether it be your job, significant other, or politician, just throw this bad boy on and hit something.
