In 2009 Chaos Inception debuted to the world Collision with Oblivion. It was a solid debut at that and done so by seasoned death metal veterans of the underground (current/ex-members of Fleshtized, Quinta Essentia, Monstrosity, and more). Their music lived up to the name. Fast, violent, and chaotic. It was a dark and evil burst of sounds. Over the past few years it hasn't stuck with me as much as I expected.
On this followup they've honed their songwriting even more. It's very intense from start to finish. In just a little over a half hour, they violently mow down anything in their path and do so with technical prowess. The drummer is bat shit insane, a blasting maniac and the solos/riffs match him often in those departments.
Over the last 2 weeks I've listened to this a good bit. I wanted to let it sink in before I made any kind of judgment on it. During that time, I found myself thinking similar thoughts of the last album. It's damn good, but I wasn't drawn back to it like I had hoped. In the end, it's no fault of the album, it's a personal death metal preference thing. The Abrogation is by no means a band album. For the genre, it's without a incredible. For fans of the Florida style of death metal (early Morbid Angel, Hate Eternal, etc) this will be a feast to the ears. If you like your death metal fast and pissed off like they're barking evil orders, then this album is without a shadow of a doubt for you. Don't expect a lot of groove, expect it to go full throttle for the jugular.
