Anything new from ANTiSEEN is cause for celebration in this house, so we snagged this European release on (beautiful orange) vinyl the second we saw it. A collection of singles from 2008-2011 plus a few unreleased songs, "New Blood" is a great way to catch up with the world’s last, true punk band. Plus you can let it play without getting up to flip records every 2 minutes (the LP comes with a download card and is also available on CD).

Like the Misfits, Superchunk and the Carpenters, ANTiSEEN has always been a “singles” band in my head; the small format just seems to work perfectly for their buzzsaw brutality. The band still sounds relatively the same after 25+ years in the thick of it, but with just enough variety and great lyrics to keep things way interesting. The highlights here are the awesome “Curses,” (which features the the amazing line “Abracadabra asshole, I’m still around”), “One Shot, One Kill” and the cover of the trad “Black Eyed Susie” with Joe Buck.

ANTiSEENhas always had impeccable taste when it comes to cover songs and their takes on the Ramones’ “Chainsaw” and the Sonics’ “The Witch”are no exception.

There are few, if any, bands who can lay down tracks almost 30 years into their career that have the same energy and vibe of their debut. ANTiSEEN rules!

they are a fun live band and they hardly ever stray from their formula. Jeff Clayton is a nice humble guy.
