New Jersey's Blacktop Kids are a 4 piece punk/hardcore band that have been kicking ass and taking names over the past couple years. In a state dominated by shitty pop punk clones, these guys play Paint It Black style punk with a hardcore edge. "Complex" was recorded and produced by Bouncing Souls guitarist Pete Steinkopf in his Little Eden Studios in Asbury Park.
Frontman Max Giaccone screams his face off over the course of 10 minutes, while a solid wall of guitar and thick as hell bass do battle with crashing drums. Listening to "Complex" brings me back to the late 90's melodic hardcore of Kid Dynamite and Lifetime, woahs and all. Blacktop Kids are by no means duplicating a past winning formula as much as they are pushing it further. These guys cater to short attention spans and keep their songs straight to the point.
After a couple high profile gigs, opening for The Bouncing Souls during their annual Home For The Holidays show and more recently Pouzza Fest in Montreal, these guys are building momentum. Be sure to catch these guys in a basement near you. "Complex" drops June 3rd at their benefit show for The Epilepsy Foundation of New Jersey at Asbury Lanes.

Definitely worth a listen, not sure if the EP is up on their bandcamp yet. I mixed/mastered this badboy as well so I'm interested in all production critiques.
