So to keep things fairly simple, Taproot signed to Victory Records a couple years ago and released 2010's "Plead The Fifth". A bunch of songs were left unused from the recording sessions that the band deemed necessary to see the light of day. Keeping in the Victory Records tradition, the label agreed and put out the album of odds and ends. As much as you'd think "The Episodes" would offer something different from the previous offering, you'd be wrong.
The overall sound of the album is comparable to the standard early 2000's nu metal revival that Taproot has been attempting to pull off. Chunky guitars and weird, angular chords are abound the album's 10 tracks. If you were never a fan of this band or genre before, you aren't going to start now. I wish I could type some filler so it seems I came to an educated conclusion, but I honestly can't emphasize how bland this album is. If you needed another reason to not give Victory Records your money, here it is.

I obviously liked these guys at the time of Gift and Welcome, but this band seems to have no progression at all. The new stuff sounds just like the old shit (even down the the mix & master), so it's pretty much shitty music without the nostalgic effect.
