The past two years have been phenomenal for bands putting out demos. There have been quite a few bands that have released such solid demos that you'd think that they weren't new bands at all. Most of them have been featured on this site. I could go on and on about who they are but chances are that if you read this site, you already know who I'm talking about.
On top of solid demos, there have been a lot of bands coming out of the Baltimore area that are astounding. It seems as if Baltimore has become the new hot spot for up and coming bands, as well as well established bands that are really getting noticed all over the place.
Pleasant Living is the newest of the crop and if this demo doesn't get them noticed right away, then I give up.
Featuring ex-members of just about every noteworthy band from Charm City, Pleasant Living is hardly a bunch of new kids that are doing their first band. That would explain why this is such a solid debut.
As influenced by hardcore as they are punk rock, you're dealing with what I could describe as the bastard lovechild of Pennsylvania bands Wisdom In Chains and Animal Haus. When I say that, I mean it in the best way possible.
Each member is completely comfortable and at ease with their instruments. The real stand out here is the vocal performance of one Dr. Dan Craley. As far as I know, this is his first real band and judging from his performance here, you can tell he's a natural on the microphone. It's not really surprising because if you know, you know his ability to grab a mic and the results are nothing less than awe inspiring.
If this is only the beginning for Pleasant Living, then I'm waiting to hear more because the strength of this demo really has me excited in that boner kind of a way for what they do next.
