YOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.
This one got randomly passed onto me a few weeks ago and has been constantly kicking the fuck out of me.
Unearthly hails from Brazil and plays a style of blackened death metal much akin to Poland destroyers Behemoth.
Does that mean it's a carbon copy? Nope. It stands alone with quite a few differences.
It's much more rooted in death metal than Behemoth is. They mix in some parts that sound a lot like older Morbid Angel to me and it works out well for them. There are blasts galore and quite a few breakdowns but we aren't talking metalcore style breakdowns at all. When Unearthly takes them on, they're done with a lot of style and flair.
Their drummer is a fucking beast. His blast away and stop on a dime playing is awe-inspiring and makes me wish that I could play along to this stuff.
The rest of the band are no slouches at all. Their guitarists definitely are fretboard magicians. They have some creative chops behind them. The songs themselves are laced with subtle melodic lines that if you aren't paying attention to, you'll miss them completely.
All in all, they've bolted down their sound in the past few releases and definitely deserved to be noticed worldwide. Hopefully they get that recognition and blow the fuck up.
