On Bodies - Planet Hospice

Boasting a pedigree of members from bands that I'm sure are household names, On Bodies have finally released Planet Hospice after much teasing.

The results are AWESOME.

It's hard to pinpoint what era of hardcore I'd compare this to because there is so much going on here that makes this a unique experience. There are equal parts As Friends Rust, Terror, Where Fear And Weapons Meet and all of the other bands that the members have been a part of for years before.

It's fast, furious and dare I say, thinking man's hardcore? It's not typical in any form. It definitely is an adventurous listen.

There are only two faults that I find with it. 1. It's too short. For having 9 songs, it clocks in at under 14 minutes. By EP standards, that's perfect but I just want MORE. 2. The production is slightly lackluster. The instruments are all kind of weak and the vocals are too high in the mix. It's effective for what it is but hopefully with their next release, they have a better recording that makes their songwriting pop like it needs to.

The only thing left is for them to tour. I'm sure these songs sound like a sledgehammer live and I hope that I actually get a chance to catch them live.
