It's not often you hear brutal death metal from Dublin, Ireland. Actually, off the top of my head, Skewered may be the first. Formed in 2003 and recording a double of demos, this self titled release marks their first full length. How does it fair well in the rest of the world of death metal? In short, standard fare.

That's not always a bad thing. This release is rather solid. It reminds me at times of Skinless and most of the time of mid 90s US death metal. Not a bad mix, but I can't help but feel something is lacking. Just a little something to push this album forward.

The 13 tracks rake in a little over a half hour of music. That half hour feel a lot longer. That's not often a good thing. I found myself not finding a lot to be too memorable, but I also found myself not hating it. One thing I didn't like was the production. Something about the guitar tone didn't sit well with me and I can't put my finger on it. Mainly, my main gripe is the lack of hooks and memorable riffs. Without them it keeps this album pretty much middle of the road as in it's not bad, but it's not something that will garner a lot of repeat listens.
