When getting into pop punk one of the bands that always popped up was MxPx. Their brand of christian pop punk was infectious and incredibly upbeat. They leaned towards lyrics about girls and hanging out and less about the Jesus. I listened to them a bit only owning a b-sides album that I truly adored.
After many years of not hearing anything about them, this album lands in my lap. Intrigued by all the pop punk I have been getting to review it was a special treat to get something from a band that I had fond memories of.
From the first note to the very last this is an MxPx album. They have not gone the way of other pop punkers that decided to change or evolve their sound into something different. Although you can tell this is MxPx it doesn't sound like a generic album.
The songs are catchy and upbeat and despite being more mature it doesn't deviate too far off thier older work. I'm not sjre how this compares to the past couple albums but if you also have skipped them for awhile this is a great reintroduction for them.
Overall this album is a pretty great album.very enjoyable to listen to as well as being nostalgic. If you haven't heard them before this is a great place to start. They have matured their sound enough to get where they wanted while still keeping true to who they are.
