In a genre where slam is currently getting huge, new bands a seemingly not only a dime a dozen, but a dime for two dozen. They come quickly, they put out a shitty recorded demo filled with boring slam parts and then disappear. Every now and then a band will put out a demo that is awesome, but then you never hear from them again either. The even more rare these days is the death metal demo that completely kills it and renews faith in the genre. I believe Goemagot has just done that for me.

Forming in 2011 in Rochester, NY, the band was quickly snatched up by Sevared Records (also of Rochester). They're young and they mean business. This professional sounding demo is balls to the wall heavy. 3 tracks of nasty slamming brutal death metal played the way it should be. The demo is simply unrelenting in it's execution.

W'ere not hearing just boring slam after boring slam. They mix them in with blasting brutal death excellently. It's pretty much what I look for in this style of death metal and it has all bases covered. Basically, the last track is exactly what I hope is a precursor to their full length. Technical brutality with excellent grooves and punishing slam riffs. Imagine a mix of Devourment, Defeated Sanity, and middle era Mortal Decay.

The production is quite nice as well for a demo. Clean, but not too clean. What I like most is how much the bass cuts through. It's an instrument that often gets buried on genre recordings. I do wish the utilized a wider range of vocals. The low belched gutturals are nice, but some different growls and screams would be a welcome addition.

All in all, these three tracks show great promise. For being young, they're playing at a level bands far older than them are. In time I expect them to only get tighter and stronger and destroy many more listeners.
