Brazilian grind maniacs Desalmado are back with their latest effort, a self-titled album due out July 31st. "Desalmado" is a collection of 15 blistering tracks, which the band plows through in just over 30 minutes.
Desalmado is definitely a grind band, but this album is a far cry from the constant blast-beats and guitar feedback that seem to make up a decent amount of recent releases. The Sao Paulo grinders keep it interesting with plenty of variety, from d-beat, to hardcore beatdown, to Autopsy-style death metal. This album has plenty of blistering passages that race by, but be prepared to bang your head as well.
Sepultura's Jean Dolabella's expert hand shows in the production, and even the vocals sound a bit Sepultura-esque at times. Everything sounds clean and tight, yet still organic, raw, and crushing.
If you like your grindcore metallic and heavy as hell, check out "Desalmado." It is nice to see a band pull off so many styles of heavy music and make a cohesive album. This album is pissed, to-the-point, and not to be slept on.
