you should get onto www.petfinder.com, and do a search for whatever dog breed, or just an all breed kennel. people are always looking for volunteers. thats how i found first state, its right down the road from me, i ride my bike there. oh yeah, if you want, check out www.firstgreys.org, its the shelters site...hahaha. i didnt realize i liked to talk so much, even when im typing, holy shit. sorry about that!
so yeah, i cleaned out the run and found a huge chunk of ear. the other dog had pinned him against the wall with his muzzle, and when he tried to move, his ear ripped. it was a disaster. i also walked in to find apollo, a 2 year old with black spots, dead. my first reaction was to run into the run and pick him up. idk how i did it...he weighed 75 lbs. they later found out that he had a disorder...where he wasnt able to fight simple bacteria, even with meds. the pup had hemmoraged from every organ. ahhhhh. its a nice gesture handing them over to us from tracks and all...but they never come with papers. its always a surprise. but thru it all, theyll always love you.
yeah. not a lotta people know about greyhounds. theyre amazing animals. if i could have one animal for the rest of my life, it would be a hound. their skin is definately paper thin...ive been at the kennel thru so much terrifying shit. we had two boys penned together in the same run...when theyre together, atleast right after they get done on the track, they have to be muzzled, until we figure out who like who and so on and so forth. well, i had one of our long time residents, meadow, in the play yard. when i came back, there was blood ALL OVER the boys run. i thought i was going to faint. i then realized it was coming from the lab mix...yanked him out of the run, and wrapped his head (blood was dripping from his ear).
