There are some GREAT sounding pedals out there. My Box of Rock is top notch. Don't bother with anything based on a tubescreamer if you don't want to lose low end.

How much gain are you looking to use? Is this meant for bass?

yeah its for my bass. pretty much every store i go to around my way points me towards guitar distortion pedals or a shitty digital multi pedal everytime i ask about distortion for bass.

dude drop good money on a good amp and you won't need a pedal. get a matamp or an old tube sunn and if you need gain out of it and can't get it naturally go for anything analog man.
