The Underground Volume 1 compilation is a snapshot of the most active bands in the Southern California scene. The songs on this record were all recorded at the Downtown Sound Recording Studio and the material was written specifically for this compilation project and is previously unreleased. The line up includes old school greats like Symbol Six, who's first release in 1979 came out on Poshboy Records and have dozens of releases to date, and The Livingstons, who have original members for The Mau Mau's, Circle One and LA's own Wasted Youth. Other bands such as Million Kids with Billy Caldwell from Spark Plug Magazine, The Scarred, Los Creepers, Dirty Filthy Mugs and White Flag Down can be heard.
The Underground Volume 1 was recorded by legendary punk producer, Philco Raves, and Ian Down. Philco made a name at seminal LA 80's punk label, Mystic Records, producing many of the over 200 releases on the label including albums for NOFX, Ill Repute, Dr Know, and Aggression.
