Hi,

One thing I've noticed in metal is there seems to be two trains of thought in metal regarding hardcore's influence.
Obviously there's a lot of distrust between the two scenes and each views itself as superior than the other (less now but it was quite belligerent in many ways in the past).
Many metalheads ignore impact of punk/hardcore and in some instances try to ignore it. An infamous example is the blind eye turned to Iron Maiden's obvious punk influences (especially on first 2 albums). A lot of metalheads also don't like acknowledging Motorhead's punk (and rock n roll) leanings.
