how has TIHC been this year? highlights? lowlights?

i couldn't make it to any of the shows, and that is sad

I was there the whole weekend and I think what I realize is that I am sick of reunions. I'm mostly basing this on Sunday when I saw both Crown of Thornz, In My Eyes and Breakdown butcher their own songs. I mean I get the novelty of bands from the 80s and 90s getting back together, but personally I'd rather see the new bands who are super passionate and active then a bunch of dudes half-ass it.

Overall the fest really was awesome and it was insane to see like 3500 kids in the Electric Factory on Saturday. As far as overall crowd reaction the whole weekend i think that it was most insane Saturday night for Bane, Lifetime and Gorilla Biscuits.

I'm writing an article for the site about my experiences at the fests from the summer (mayhem, summer slaugher, and TIHC) but this was by far the best of the 3 and Mayhem is definitely a "bigger" fest. I'm sure the promoters already have a laundry list of things they found went wrong but from a spector's point of view this was pretty insane. The only thing I could see in terms of improvements or making it bigger would be move it to a field and offer campsites. Turn it into something that mirrors one of the fests in Europe. Everyone has been looking for a new Hellfest since that ended and I think this years TIHC has officially reached that status.

As for bands, my personal highlights were Ringworm, Earth Crisis, Harm's Way, Death Threat, 100 Demons, Will To Live, Nails, and Crown Of Thornz.

I was really won over by a few bands that I never heard before based on their performances this weekend; Rival Mob, Agitator, Rotting Out, Harms Way and Bane.

people have been talking about expanding MDF to involve "campsites"....i say fuck that. i hate sweating in a tent so much.

I agree with that statement. I doubt Joe & Co. would ever move it from Philly so I don't even know where you could move it to make that happen (FDR maybe?). And since I live 30 minutes from the city, I wouldn't partake in said camping. I'm just saying in terms of making it bigger, that's the only option I could see. This year was pretty massive and I doubt the next step would taken anytime soon, if ever.
