I can't seem to find any bands that match the melodic creativity, technical skill, insanity, and pure and unique quality that this band displayed over the course of the band's existence. Granted, it's not as if their stuff was the fastest out there, or the heaviest (although some of their breakdowns and other riffs would make that arguable), but that wasn't the point. They were super weird and unique. Where is that right now? I can't find it, and I've looked alot. Tera Melos is cool, so are many bands off of Sargent House. But other than that label, which for me is hit and miss as is, I can't find shit.

Protest The Hero

Also, the two newest Fall Of Troy albums lacked that oddness for the most part IMO. Manipulator being utter shit, the latest being mediocre at best

Protest the hero is undeniable. They are definitely great. I don't think that manipulator is where it was lost though. It seemed like in the unlikely event was where it died down. "Shhh if you're quiet I'll show you a dinosaur" has tons of weird worked in, while still being heavy. I feel like the same goes for The Dark Trail and Sledgehammer. Still though, even though protest is good, I still feel like Thomas Erak's guitar parts had a cleverness to them that isn't a hundred percent comparable to when the guitarist from protest is shredding arpeggios and tapping shit at ludicrous speed, even if it sounds badass.

Ass odd as it sounds, I would recommend CKY if you're looking for that quirky guitar work. Obviously it's not quite as technical, but it's definitely odd when you pay full attention
