There are already rumors circulating that Mir is going to get the nod to jump to the main event. No idea what that means for Valasquez.

mmaweekly has an article saying that Mir asked for the shot. . . . . . . . .I guess he makes more sense than Valasquez getting a rematch after he fought JDS when he was hurt?

I'd like to see a rematch but I get not making it happen. Cain was KO'd in just over a minute. That was pretty decisive. If it was close it would make more sense. Mir presents an interesting matchup but it's unfortunate because Overeem presented, what I thought, was the biggest challenge to JDS.

I agree that Overeem was the best candidate but I still think Valasquez was a close second to him. As much as I like Mir and how he's revamped his career and skills, I think JDS clobbers him the same way Carwin did.

It depends. I think Carwin was a bad matchup and Mir had a terrible gameplan. He thought by lifting some weights was going to allow him to out muscle Carwin. He also came in looking nearly comatose before the fight too. There is a part of me that feels Mir was defeated before he stepped in the cage.

I'd take JDS over Mir 9 times out of 10 but I think Mir fairs alot better in this fight than he did with Carwin. The one thing that Valasquez doesn't have that Mir does is that grappling instinct when hurt. If JDS can't drop him and KO him clean, he has to worry big time about getting careless when going in for the kill because Mir is just the guy to find that loose limb and rip it off.

Not looking good for Overeem right now. Hopefully they get it worked out, but they will be gunning for him now for sure.
