"Now that the NHL has signed a new network deal, talk is heating up about which city -- and field -- will be the next to host the Winter Classic. Well, we've got a hint, courtesy of the Philadelphia Daily News .

A league source familiar with the NHL's thinking regarding the 2012 Winter Classic told the Daily News yesterday that Citizens Bank Park is a "very real possibility" to host the event.

When discussing Philly as a possible site for the annual event, many assumed the Linc, home of the Eagles, would be the target location. But when the recent NFL schedule was released, it showed the Eagles are hosting a game on New Year's Day. Apparently that wasn't an obstacle for the NHL in the first place.

why would the rangers and devils play at CBP...? sounds like the worst rumor ever.

It's not gonna be the flyers, it's on the east coast so they are gonna keep it east coast teams. They like to do rivalries, HBO will probably hop on it to like the Caps and Pens.

Of course I'd go with it being false, but I can't say it COULDN'T happen.

Edit: Nevermind, that is a retarded rumor, then. That wouldn't make sense to host a Winter Classic in a city and not have that city's team play in it.

I don't know, the articles I read about it being at citizens which is still not confirmed say it's not going to be the flyers again they just did one with Boston two years back.

Again. it's still just speculation, nothings 100 percent.

i might be missing something here, but the city hosting the winter classic is the home team in the game.

also, the flyers are an east coast team.

lol I don't know, I was just hype because CSN Philly had it on TV, plus an NHL higher up said its very likely.
theres rumors all over, I was just naming some. People said Flyers Vs the Pens, Flyers Boston round two.

eagles take presidence over everything on that day.
