texas won't join the big ten, that's not even on the table. if anything, they're headed to the pack 10, otherwise they're staying put. it all boils down to money(TV profit) so they could stay put and start their own network, or go to the pac 10 and be part of a pac 10 network that they aren't sure will be able to start right away. i'd say the dark horse option would be the SEC, but as of now they're weighing their options.
i'm gonna say pac 10.
i'd like to see the big east pick up the big 12 byproduct(kansas, kansas state, iowa state) and add memphis and houston, or SMU, to form a 12 team league to compete with the rest. i doubt that'll happen. instead, the kansas schools will probably go to the mountain west to make a 12 team league. what'll probably end up happening is the SEC will eventually raid the big east and acc, and the acc will take the the big east leftovers, leaving us with 4 huge conferences. after all of this becomes reality, or during this huge mess, the mountain west will be invited to be the 5th BCS automatic qualifying conference.
my money goes on this.
