Even though this poster makes it look like this could be alternately titled, "Space Threesome", this was pretty ok overall.
I think this is just one of those archetypical movie plots, and holds up whatever the incarnation as long as it has the requisite dark & out-of-control trajectory. From Howard Hawks' original great 1951 "The Thing", to the first "Alien" film by Ridley Scott, to this and a bunch more in between, as long as they're not that awful or moralistic, they tend to hold up. Like a standard cover song, I think this is an example of good
formula, with certain chords that have to be hit, and when they are, it just works. The star power involved made me kind of wary, but the filmmakers seem to have ignored that, so that was nice.
