so right now they're talking about the Base Rate statistic (OPS minus Batting Average, if i recall correctly) and blithering dunderheads joe magraine and harold "i love me some white girls" reynolds are just not getting it

it's really rather simple
the leaders in base rate last year: albert pujols, prince fielder, adrian gonzalez.
the worst: jason kendall, david eckstien, some other worthless assholes

the former players hate the sabermetrics because (and i quote) "its always the LIGHT HITTING MIDDLE INFIELDERS that get squeezed"

so basically, any stat that says guys that are good at baseball are in fact good at baseball, and say that guys who aren't good at baseball are not good at baseball, are bad stats and should be "done away with"

errrr

ummm

i know i can't be the only one that sees something wrong here

The way I look at it, its this or baseball tonight. I can deal with the half retarded conversations and comments because of all the other shit that they cover and no one else does.

i love that the mlb network makes a really strong effort to educate fans on stats that are much better metrics of productivity, but they almost sabotage themselves when these doddering old retards try to harumph anything that isnt batting average or win-loss record

I just wish the NFL Network (and to a lesser extent, NHL Network) was as good at programming as MLB Network. I dont need 10 hours of a replay of NFL Total Access. Wanna know what you could do during that time, show more classic games. I dont need Rich Eisen on my TV all day. At least the scouting combine is on
