i just talked a couple into dropping 120 bucks on a case of chimay blue. they fought hard but i am the best beer swindler on earth.

chimay is fantastic, but over 100 bucks? you gotta be crazy

i dislike the taste of all of chimay's beers.

I don't mind chimay sometimes but there's many other beers I'd rather drink

Crazy statements, Trappist or bust. $120 after markup isn't really outrageous.

chimay white is my second favorite beer of all. it goes down like heaven and you definitely feel it right away

Tripel's are one of my favorite styles. White is an exemplary example of how it should be executed, it's more or less flawless.

Quads are great

unibroue's quad is unearthly

Unibroue doesn't produce a Quad to my knowledge.

I have to say up and down they (Unibroue) are probably one of the best current breweries. Their dedication to quality and appreciation for their mutual styles is only matched by a handful of other breweries, IMO.

youre right. the girl at the bar told me it was a quad, and she really knows her shit usually so i figured it was. turns out la terribles is classified as a belgian strong dark, but its 10 abv makes a lot peope think its a quad i guess

At such high abv qualifiers for styles start to get blurred sometimes, so it's all good. All strong style ales(dark/red/american/etc.) are some of my favorites as well. Terrible is untouchable. If you dig it or the style, look into Gulden Draak if your store, or stores around you carry it. You'll be floored.
