I love eating organic fruits and veggies, and they are pretty readily available when I want them at local stores or the farmers market, so I wouldn't waste my money on having them delivered- PLUS I feel like the gas they use and pollution they cause by delivering to houses directly would just cancel out any good I was doing by buying organic.

cole, i disagree about the pollution aspect, one delivery vehicle instead of 30 or more cars (lets say) is more then likely less pollution especially in the city when you have to drive to multiple places for your produce. and in comparison to whole foods, the deal they have is really good and its actually a really decent amount.
but if you have stands for organic locally grown produce that are nearby i say that is the best choice.
gav, i just think they just taste better when they aren't grown with all the chemicals. (among other reasons)

of course, nicole, my fellow aggie, (ha!) hits the nail on the head. organics are popular for several reasons, one of which is the fact that their production is more environmentally friendly. however, most of the organic produce you can purchase at a supermarket or thru a service like this is produced in south america or mexico. (transport costs, pollution, fuel, ouch!) in reality it would be more sustainable and environmentally sensible to eat locally produced (hothouse in this season) foods that may not have been organically grown. but seeing as amber has a child and another on the way i can understand and applaud her interest in organics. infants and children are much more susceptible to pesticide damage than adults are. there are certain foods that are more important to eat organically than others. for example, if you are buying organic bananas, oranges, avocados, etc. you are truly wasting your money. however, foods like lettuces and berries retain enormous amounts of the chemicals used during production. there's a chart somewhere online, i will look for it.
i can't wait for the growing season to start again so i can have farm fresh organic fruits and veggies!
