Looking at a new head on ebay and it says the presence knob doesn't work. Is this normally something that's hard to fix?

I hate the presence control on my head. I just set it at 12 oclock and leave it alone.

depends on the value of the pot...if it is a normal pot then it's an easy fix....if it is a point to point wired head even easier....if the value of the pot is not standard it is a little trickier...and if it is surface mounted board..then you are in total tech need.

It's a Laney AOR 100 if that helps. I don't really know much about this stuff so if it's more than just get parts, solder together, I'd have to take it to a tech anyway.

If it's actually just a pot, it shouldn't be too hard to fix. If it's something within the circuit it'll be harder(obviously). If you don't know exactly what the issue is, I'd take it to a tech.

the presence knob on the sound city is weird. turn the knob 95% and it doesn't do shit, but that last 5% is really tone altering.

presence knob controls "negative feedback" to the power stage, this involves a wire and a resistor, at most were looking at 3 parts. if a tech charges you more than 20 bucks to fix it, kill yourself.

my fender deluxe is kinda the same way I never really understood what this knob did, it always just seemed like extreme treble or something.

its like i said, feeding back some signal into the output section. therefor creating kind of a "comb filtering" effect. certain harmonics are canceled and certain are boosted. kinda makes the sound more "3D" what ever the hell that means in arrogant guitar duchebag lingo

it really is the guitar amp equivalent to shitty "harmonic adder" circuits that claim a "tube like sound" in pro audio gear
