i'm now interested in it for a variety of reasons (no, not getting boned). i don't even know where to begin - i know a dr's visit is a natural starting point but i can never get into my primary care as soon as i'd like. ideally i'd like to go in with some research behind me. i mostly want something that helps me get my period on a regular basis, if that's even a possibility...i'd like to be one of those people who can also decide to skip it if need be, haha. i don't mind taking pills every day, and i don't want anything stuck in my arm. i don't want anything to make me depressed or fat, or fat then depressed. i know side effects are different for everyone, buuuuut...yeah.

i haven't been to the lady doctor since i was 17 so i'll probably have to go

When you go in you can talk to them about what you are after and they can answer what your best options are. I've been on a bunch so I can tell you my personal experience:
-Birth Control pills: have to take them every day and you have to worry about effectiveness if you have to take antibiotics for any reason. but these have the most variety and have the best chance of finding something that works for you
-Depo-Provera (the shot): take it once every three months, no periods. Problem is losing your sex drive and gaining lots of weight.
-Ortho Evra (the patch): only have to put on one per week. Contains the highest level of estrogen out of all BC. sticker sometimes shows and gets fuzzies around the edges and sometimes slips.
-Nuva Ring: Keep it in for 3-4 weeks at a time. Only problem with this is one size fits all so it may or may not have an issue staying in place, but easiest because only need one every 4 weeks.

Any birth control you can stack or take back to back to skip periods pretty much.

Yeah, I had the Nuva Ring for about 6 months. Wouldn't recommend it. I had the hardest time ever having orgasms, and if you don't insert it correctly, it's not effective. At all. For anything.

i'm starting the Depo shot this week, and i'm really looking forward to having a little more freedom. it's one shot every 3 months as opposed to trying to remember to take a pill every day. can't wait.

With the way kids are these days, I don't blame her suspicion.

well, i understand, and i agree completley.

however, she constantly praises me on having a level head, and good judgement.

but she doesnt trust me going on birthcontrol.

its not like i'm going to have sex with everything that walks.. i seriously though think its important to be on birthcontrol for the "just in case" factor, and also for the benefits it comes with for period problems, and acne problems.

a lot of doctors won't put younger women on depo unless they are a serious case. it can make it very difficult to get preggs.
