i probably do alot of core training and just don't know it.

i know of alot of odd "core training" exercises like swinging a 50lb sledge hammer at a tire as many times as you can in 60 seconds but what are some more typical core training exercises?

Basically any good free weight exercise that you do will work the core. I don't understand the fascination with the swiss ball. Do overhead squats if you really want to work the core. "Core" is just a buzzword in the fitness industry right now.

The only thing exercise balls are good for is kicking them fifty feet and hitting somebody in the face. It's nearly a guarantee when you kick one of these.

Hanging leg raises, deadlifts, weight hyperextensions, overhead squat, standing military, squat

all free weight movements use your core to some degree though

i dont know if theyre actually "core" but i do these, dont know names:

1. lay on my back on the floor and raise my legs, knees locked, above my head, past 90 degrees. once at the highest point i lift my ass and lower back as high off the floor as i can and repeat from floor to the last step.

2. lay on my back, and spin 360 kicking my feet as if someone is standing above me (bjj open guard style) rocking and kicking my legs. using my stomach back and leg muscles to rotate me
