I'm sure most of the older posters here can answer a "yes" to this, I'm just wondering what are some ways to get through to people. I convinced a friend to go vegan but he gave it up after about two weeks. And I almost conviced my parents to give up meat by showing them this site:

I'd like to add that this thread isn't intended for self-righteous people to brag in.

I never sort of convinced anyone to go vegan, but maybe just influenced them. One person is my boyfriend. He went vegetarian, then I was influenced to go vegetarian. I did my own research and decided going vegan was a healthy choice for me and he sort of went vegan maybe a month after me.

So i think if the person is around you enough, you sort of just influence them. My boyfriend has roomates, and since he's vegan and one of his roomates is vegetarian, there's a lot of vegan food at hand at the house.

You can't really convince anyone to go vegan, no matter how much information you give them. If you're around them enough though, maybe they could try some vegan friendly foods and find out they like it.

There's a difference between leading by example and trying to force people to conform to your beliefs. People have gone vegan as a result of spending time with me and seeing that it's "not so hard," but I have absolutely no desire to force anyone to do anything they don't want to do. People have to be comitted in their own hearts to stick with it... that's not something you can "convince" into them.

You should try convincing yourself to use proper grammar, punctuation, and sentence structure.

i try to lead by example and when people ask me why i choose this lifestyle, i try to explain it in a way that doesn't seem like i'm "pushing it down their throat". just remember what is was like before you were vegan, and try to relate to people's skepticism and answer any concerns they have. i feel like veganism speaks for itself, and if you lay down the facts people can come to their own conclusions.

if they stop after a few weeks, remind them that while they may be having trouble adjusting, it's far a less a sacrifice than all the animals who are raised in their own feces and brutally slaughtered to feed someone who could easily live without them. AND that it takes about a month for you tastebuds to adjust. AND that they are not the only creatures on this earth that matter, and they should stop being so fucking selfish!!! ok, maybe that won't help MOST people, but it feels great to say it...

Yeah, because vegans are known for going door to door promoting their livestyles, and standing on street corners preaching.

I've convinced someone to become vegan, which wasn't my intention, though she became one. i said i hated cheese because it's basically dried pus and blood. she stopped eating it.

I didn't say a word about it to her, but my twat of an ex girlfriend remains vegan six months after our relationship so blissfully ended.
