This kid at Wawa a few months back was sitting on the trashcan outside of the store with a Casey XXX Jones shirt on and asked me to buy him cigarettes. They're apparently sending a garbled message to their following and should be boycotted.

Listening to it is one thing. You can have the attitude like, "I like this band but I don't feel like I completely identify with their message and choose to smoke cigarettes and carry on like I always have." That's fine. When you decide to listen to the band then parade around in a straight edge t-shirt that's a completely different matter. When you wear those X's you should are making a statement about accepting the message. Straight edge tattos are not for everyone so this is the next best way to display your straight edge commitment. Actually, wearing a varsity jacket with leather sleeves and STRAIGHT EDGE on the back in block lettering is the second best way but this is up there.

I don't recall saying anything about sending wrong signals only a garbled message. Apparently they're not an effective straight edge outfit. They should quietly disband and burn their merch so it doesn't fall into the hands of the likes of you or that wetend at Wawa. The future of Straight Edge looks bleak with bands like Casey Jones being celebrated.

Straight Edge wouldn't exist if it wasn't for the music. Many edge bands have come and gone over the years and most of the bands have done right by the music and their message telling the next wave of kids what's up. Casey Jones has a lack of talent and lack of a respectable following. If this is the type of bands that are going to be carrying the torch for the next five or ten years things don't look good.

Honestly, I think you're pretty far out of your element to be saying what's what... not to mention your completely outmatched by my wit and intellect. You should take the same advice I'm lending to Casey Jones and quit while your ahead.

Barrabas, makes good points, but Casey Jones doesn't suck, nor are they sending out a faded message. They clearly state they are an edge band and all of their songs promote straight edge. There will always be ignorant ass kids, like the one that you explained. Tools, posers, w/e there is always going to be kids who can't comprehend Straight Edge and don't respect it, and that is where we have to show them the truth. Saying that Casey Jones should break up because one kid was a tool, is stupid.
