I've been using a gentle leader head collar for my boxer pup in training and love it to death. It's like having a whole new dog when he's on it (especially in walking). Problem is, because he has a short nose, he can't open his mouth as wide as he should and I imagine it hinders his breathing after a while. I was told they have special leaders for short-nosed dogs, but I havent seen any. Anyone know if there is one and if so, where can I get it?

yeah i already have one of those for my dog, but i've been told theres one's specifically for dogs with short snouts that allows them to open their mouth to its maximum capacity rather than restricting it. (dogs with short snouts often need to pant a lot when doing high energy activities. if the airflow is restricted in any way, it can be seriously harmful.

Would the size up be too big? Have you tried on different brands, like the Halti? I have a Halti for my pittie mix, Maizy, who has a pretty fat nose, and she can open her mouth up enough to pant, etc. Maybe try one on at the store!

thanks, that web link was kinda insightful. i like the GL over the Halti for Tuff. I recently got a new GL and it's a little more narrow in width and allows for a little more "breathing room" (no pun i swear). but then again my pup is a little bigger now and his muzzle has gotten slightly bigger. thanks guys
