There are Wisconsin cheese makers that make European cheeses better than many found in Europe, depending on the type.

I buy Irish Cheese and butter. They are way better at anything to do with dairy.

There's not much room for discussion on American Cheese. It sucks, people who ask for it on sandwiches are the human equivalent of rice cakes, and some forms of it are not actually food.
