A taka and new jack reference in one post, why haven't we talked wrestling before?

welp, monday night raw was in gso and i missed it. fucking bummer. my friend dave was on staff and said that they werent allowed to speak or take photos with any wwe star. lame as fuck

I wish I had a C&P archive from this time, but back when they had the AOL boards (and then ACLU boards) i used to do RP wrestling and write gimmicks and story lines, and I really liked Edge but this was when they had that eh Brood gimmick. I created a gimmick on the EWF message board for Edge and Christian to be surfer bros, and then Taka was always in their crew and Edge would constantly say "aww he's so cute", also one friend of mine used a Kurt Angle gimmick... like 2 weeks later all of this happened in the WWF. I never went to look into it, because it was a great time for all those wrestlers gimmicks, but I'm pretty sure someone was lurking that board and stole that idea. None of that is bullshit either, I wish the archives still existed.

i swear to god, this kid Joel Hanek used to post there with me and some kid named Brady from NJ. we probably should've asked some questions, and maybe it was sheer coincidence but i swear that actually happened lol. this was before i even met Anthony, i was like 14.

Also, I wouldn't be in the least surprised if somebody was stealing ideas during that time...vince was always a great FILTER for ideas, I don't think he or the writers were coming up with any of it soley on their own. The internet forums would have been a perfect place for leeching ideas from marks.

Russo was the main writer at that time I believe. That era had some good feuds and story lines, but also some bad gimmicks (the goon, the body donnas, farrooq's original costume/gimmick).

Russo sucked, he only worked good with vince as his filter. When he was let off his chain in wcw...well, it got worse

Art Of Wrestling this week is with Jerry Lynn. Yet again, awesome interview. Jerry Lynn seems like a really cool dude to get to hang out with.

no way out is in jersey next month. i'll be living in connecticut by then so i'm gonna try really hard to go. anybody else? I figure going to a PPV would be the funnest experience as far as WWE goes because you might actually see a few titles change hands.

I haven't been to a live WWE event since the 2004 Royal Rumble (which ruled because I got to see Benoit win it). It was a lot of fun, saw some great matches, marked out like a goon lol. I just haven't had the chance to go again because the events always tend to conflict with other stuff in my schedule that take priority, otherwise I'd have gone plenty of times since. I do plan on going in the near future though, especially since my son is really itching to go.
