I think the biggest problem is that he isn't talking or anything. He's just a slow galoot who poses in karate stances and yells. He has no real personality so there's nothing to make up for the boring matches. When Ryback/Goldbergv2.0 has a match, at least he's putting energy into everything he does and is yelling "feed me MORE!" and such. He's not putting you to sleep watching his matches, even though they ARE squashes.


Also, as was pointed out on Aftermath Podcast... Do all Japanese people (and those living there for a long time) have the ability to spray green mist? Why the hell does this gimmick keep getting used like that?

I don't mind tensai being used as a secondary enforcer type guy. Kind of like how the big bossman was the dirty worker for the corporation etc.

Yeah but they were never like "Now introducing The Big BossEskimo" with JR like "He used to be a WWF superstar and then he spent years in Greenland dominating the eskimo wrestling scene!" and he was blinding people with seal fat or something. Tensai gimmick is really bad :(

Glacier and the other MK gimmicks were pretty bad, as gimmicks, their ring skills were ok to good.

I like the idea of the gimmick a lot, especially because that I what actually happened with Albert. It just hasn't translated into the ring at all. He's working far too slow, and all of the hand gestures weigh him down. He should just go back to working how he actually did in Japan, then he'd be awesome.

the muscle idea and the concept of a superstar who dominated in japan coming back to utilize the style that made him successful overseas work for me... however; the "face tattoos", his in ring gestures/taunts, even the entrance and music... i don't know, its not too intimidating it's actually more laughable. I'm not very familiar with prince albert or whatever his monicker was over in Japan, but I've always been a little bored by this guy even though he's skilled for his size. i mean, just the initial shock of "Lord Tensai" and then seeing some big white dude with sharpie tattoos of japanese characters is a bit of a put off and it got even worse as he moved around incredibly slow, doing "karate" or whatever before power slamming someone.

my ideal gimmick as a wrestler would be a heel version of the "he's so cute" Taka Michinoku era. one minute, i'd be smiling and laughing doing cute things and then the next I'd stab Santino Marella like New Jack did to William Jason Lane.
