to be fair, defining who/what is truly christian seems like a silly sub-topic to distract us from what's really worth discussing. some democrats are assholes, some chinese people are fuckheads, some men are garbage, some christians are pederast, genocidal, homophobes. but what about people like tom.?

I'm sure tom knows that the gigantic group of women/brown people/gays-hating christians in america would be quick to say that he's not a christian either.

Christianity is the belief that an all-knowing, immortal super-being created the entire Universe and its billions of galaxies (each with billions of stars and planets) 13,400,000,000 years ago. He then sat back, waited 10 billion years, created the Earth, sat back and waited another 3.4 billion years for life to slowly evolve into human beings and, at some point, gave them a "soul" and immortality, then sent it's "son" to Earth to die on a cross so that human being would be forgiven for Adam's original sin that we now all know never happened.

And our instantaneous genesis in god's image left us with... wisdom teeth. Yeah, those were a good idea. They often don't come in straight and have to be removed and while that is rountine these days back in the day before there was surgery or surgery was advanced as much as it is today... not so routine and safe.

Teen girl was raped, impregnated by fellow church-member & then forced to apologize

Monday, May 16, 2011

A woman who says she was raped and impregnated as a 15-year-old by a member of her church -and then forced to read a letter of apology aloud to the congregation -is now seeking justice from the courts. Jury selection starts Monday at Merrimack Superior Court in New Hampshire in the case against Ernest Willis, who prosecutors charge raped Tina Anderson twice in her home in 1997, leaving her pregnant, the New Hampshire Union Leader reported. The then-teenager was then compelled by leaders of the Trinity Baptist Church to apologize for becoming pregnant with a married man's child, the Concord Monitor reported.

actually, wisdom teeth, like most things that have come down to us through EVOLUTION, serve a purpose and are pretty ingenius actually. we've maybe outgrown their specific use today with modern hygiene, but they come in to push your teeth together to fill in gaps left by lost teeth that have either rotted out or been knocked out by your caveman friends. no one counted on the toothbrush making them unnecessary.

but yeah, today, ouch. sorry to hear about that. it's also often a salespitched insurance scam by dentists though; removing them is often unnecessary. while the process of them coming in is sometimes uncomfortable - that's when they sell you the idea, once they have settled, they're often fine, even if not perfectly straight.

hope they gave you some decent drugs for that.

Thanks. Two of mine could have stayed... one had actually come in perfectly, but was admittedly nearly impossible to get to to floss or brush too well and since the bottom ones needed to come out.. partly above the gum line and pushing against the back teeth at an angle... I decided to have them all out. Took about an hour under local.. really hurt for a day or so but after finding I fucking hate vicodin I switched to Aleve, which has worked well. One thing they don't tell you.... and this has been the worst part... sometimes stitches itch like hell.

Also... I paid $23 for the whole thing, it was painless and quick, and the doc was awesome... so... he can scam my insurance company for it all he wants.

I am curious, however...where did you hear this caveman teeth pushing theory? Its interesting, but I'm not sure I buy it. Seems to make less sense than the idea that our jaws have gotten smaller forcing these new teeth into a smaller mouth.

2. Yep.

3. NJ town cuts police force and then tries to pray crime down. I kid you not... this went on. In some ways this one is true, yes... but not universally so, and the differences seem to come most often from religious prohibitions.

4.yes

5. And yet the atheist point of view is.. with few exceptions... that we should all have the right to our own beliefs and that no religion should be forced on anyone.. much less any lack thereof. The religious views of some are repugnant to me because they seek to do actual harm to others and to compel others to follow their religious laws.

6. yes

7. yes

8. The negative aspects of religion are what those who do not believe actually oppose.

9. Yes... but one side brings far more negative things to the table... and that same side is the one that seeks to use government to further its own agendas and force its beliefs on others through law.

10. True... but, then... religion has a far longer and bloody record of trying.

I say all this because quite simply I don't need or have to agree with the religious on anything outside of the idea that everyone is free to have their own beliefs and that others should not be forced by law to follow the religious or moral rules of anyone else.

I wonder which religion has killed as many people as Hitler, Stalin, and Mao?... all Atheist!
