That's absurd, and like that one guy in the article mentions, there's no way to prove his intent. Especially with the fact that Chara has a clean track record in the NHL.

Mind you, Bertuzzi's civil case is finally being brought to court in a few weeks. I believe there were also legal implications from McSorley's slash to Brashear's head, if I'm not mistaken. So this shit has happened before.

i can almost completely agree with civil action in the mcsorley and bertuzzi cases because of their intent behind the actions and the injuries that resulted. like you said, it was a check, which is legal, and you cant prove he was intending on injuring him.

All I'm saying is this: Hockey players never forget. Chara and Pacioretty had a history this season. The Bruins and Habs have had a pretty intense year. Chara knows who hes rubbing out there. Chara knows how rinks are constructed. I know its a pretty heavy assumption, but you guys know this game.

Chara is one big dude which I think gives him a bad rep around the league. I honestly don't think he meant to hurt him, (considering their history) but at the same time he should have known his position on the ice. If you watch the replay you do see his hand holding Pacioretty as he's thrown into the turnbuckle. Whether it was intentional I don't think we'll ever know, but I do think the league should have given him a suspension/fine as a warning for other players that a play like that is not okay.

The saddest part is that a 22 year old kid might not ever get a chance to play again.

He was released from the hospital today. I think he'll eventually make a full recovery,

if youre going to fine/suspend chara for that hit, you have to eliminate ALL checking on the boards in front of the bench. it could happen to anyone and has. . .just not (as far as i'm aware) forehead first. people get hit into the turnbuckles at the ends of the bench all the time. and people get flipped into the benches a lot as well. its a dangerous area. . .its going to happen.
