Just watched this movie two nights ago:

Horrible.
Not only were parts of the movie so dark you had no idea what was going on, but whomever was directing it made you feel as if you were having a seizure the entire length of the movie.
Also, Amy Smart did not once get naked. (which she seems to do in every other movie she's ever been in.)
The only saving grace of the movie was the sound.
If you've ever played video games like Fear and Fatal Frame you would love the sound effects, voices, moans, etc throughout the movie.
I'm just glad it was free via OnDemand, heh.
Jess.

Bought that and watched it last night as our "first BluRay for the house" on our new TV. The picture quality was so good, it was absurd (new tv roolz). Anyway, the movie was good as expected. Obviously, I loved it because I love rugby. There wasn't as much development on Damon's character as I expected, but I guess the movie isn't meant to be about him.

Hopefully we are watching The Road soon.

All the reviews I read about the Road is that it's great if you never read the book or atleast plan on doing the book second. I haven't read the book so i'm pretty stoked on the movie. If its atleast half decent, I'll read the book.

I never read the book. It's not a bad movie by any means. It's just really, really depressing.

I think the only reason directors/producers even bother releasing a film with the NC-17 rating is because that alone draws attention to it. If the film is given an NC-17 rating and they don't want to cut anything from it, they can release it "Unrated". Now it's a double edged sword with unrated films because technically the film could be rated PG-13 but the creators just didn't feel like submitting it to the MPAA for rating.

Also, the rating system is stupid anyway. There is no clear cut formula for rating. Basically someone will sit down and watch a film and based on their opinion they'll assign a rating. Directors and producers have tried to ascertain the reason why their films were rated what they were and they always say they were given the run around never finding out a real reason why.

That much I am aware of. I assumed you were saying it was bad.

I assumed as much. That's why I didn't watch it a few nights ago - I wasn't in the proper mood, haha.

I had higher expectations for it. There were funny parts, but definitely felt really forced.

It wasn't amazing by any stretch but some of it really made me laugh. Pretty much any time Babs or the Vet talked.
