I know I can't be alone on this but does anyone else listen to bands who may/may not be considered good/cool because you consider that band to be musically talented even though the bands image may suck or they are considered 'hot topic' or similar? For instance, I like shadows fall, not every single song but the majority of their stuff. Although they may be considered sellouts or something like that they play some pretty technical shit. I will also get into a band if they have really good arrangements, or great vocals or a combination of the two. It goes to the extreme that I cant get into some bands if the music is too simplistic or if the recording is shitty etc. I think some people write off bands just based on popular opinion and then habitually ignore music that falls under certain genres/categories and I honestly think they end up missing out. Do you look deeper into a band/song than just hype/categories and actually get into it if it is done right?

alot of people do that. there are bands i like alot that are constantly written off by other people.

i liked shadows fall's first 2 albums, but i haven't listened to either in 3 or 4 years.

endless amounts of people that i know would deem 'not cool'. i'm a sucker for anything extremely catchy. i get shit for it a lot but i dig what i dig.

my music list on here is probably more than half made up of what would be considered embarrassing and mainstream.

I don't base any of the music that I listen to off of their image in society. I listen to everything regardless of how "cool" "nu" it is etc... in my opinion no musician should limit what their ears absorb.

i try to give all types of music a chance now, i used to be such a nazi, i'd avoid certain genres like the plague and i missed out on a lot of good music that way, opinions matter but when it comes down to it it's all about preference and what you like to listen too

the locust are / were good. people just hate them cause they act like dicks and have trendy fans.

I can like a song or band because they're good musically but if it's not my thing I won't listen to'em a lot of something.

modest mouse is one of my favorite bands. although, it has nothing to do with them being big or anything, but their past 2 records have been batshit-awful. and to back that up, moon and antarctica was put out by epic as well, and it's an amazing record.

i'll also listen to anything that sounds good to my ears .. ive never had a problem admitting to enjoying music that you get ragged on for here .. even shit like forever the sickest kids/fall outboy which that can be super catchy due to being well written

self titled has been doing the rounds on my mp3 player and in my car stereo since it came out .. jams like Apartment and Swift and Unforgiving are my shit

it's less violent lyrically, but still catchy and very well written.
