I'm not sure I follow you.

I hold a belief... doesn't matter what, say "no murder". I choose not to murder people for whatever reasons I have--The Bible, however, deliberately condemns murder on it's own grounds.

Sooo... If I am one who has personal reason that motivate me not to murder, but am also a christian, I am contradicting myself? Is this the essence of your argument or have I slipped up?

yea i fowled that one up big time i didnt mean those were the contradictions just different reasons to abstain, i need to use commas, from certain substances.

if its biblical law then how it is a choice?

that was my arguement, you really have no choice but to obey?

straightedge is the belief that you control your life and show you can control it or at least yourself by abstaining from foreign substances entering it and christianity is the belief that God controls your life or at least your salvation. In essence you have control of your life with straightedge and with christianity you give that control to God.

in reference to my spelling im using my phone for these posts so ill use spell checker next time

and this is the contradiction...

Jesus didn't die for me, and if he did, he was a fool.

According to bible.org (click here for link) drinking alcohol is a grey area and the bible neither condemns it nor promotes it and there are negative, neutral and positive references to it (primarily concerning wine).

Personally, I don't care either way, I'm not Christian. But I don't see why you can't be Christian, or Krsna, or Buddhist, or atheist, or whatever, and be sXe at the same time.

yes drinking was a grey area only because in those times that was the only substance to drink without adverse side effects ie: disentary, diarrhea, and ultimately dehydration. plus wine, as everyone knows, doesnt go bad after long periods of time, they had no purifiers just rivers. again read ephesians 5:18. i respect you to the fullest man for comin on here with facts and not disrespecting me thanks.

ultimately i have learned a lot from this discussion i am still trying to gather facts to determine whether or not you can be straight edge and a christian too even with coinciding beliefs. if any of you reading this are edge and christian please tell me what you think because im at a stalemate.
