I don't get it. I hear sooooooo much hype about them, and for a good 30 minutes each, tried fucking with the settings and they've all sounded like twangy dogshit. I don't get it. I want to love Bogner, but just cant.

The only Bogners I've played were the Uberschalls, but the Twin Jet is a lot different, mainly bc of the "global" controls/different tubes/overall tighter feel etc. My philosophy is no amp is really better than the other, it's whatever works for you at the end of the day so I know where you're coming from, no real need to love Bogner.

As a side-note, after amp shopping for 6 months, I really really really hate when people sell those Line 6 amps as "Bogner head" on craigslist. DA FUK.

The reason why I want to love Bogner, is because I have heard thrm sound great. and by great I mean a sound I like and would use my the style I play. who, da fuck, would be trying to pass of a line 6 as a Bogner?

No I hear ya.

And a lot of people who are dicks. I find real crazy deals on cl and it's happened probably a dozen times over the past few months when I click on a link like "bogner tube head - $650" and I see the Line 6 logo. Craigslist rules sometimes tho, I found a 1960a once for $175.

Now that I think about it, i think I saw that once too. and it was a Line 6 Spider or something. needless to say very disappointed. Every once in a while I look on CL for gear, and am either bummed that it's not in my budget, or bummed that someone is just full of shit.

i don't give a shit what the so called "purists" say about the reissue model t. this thing fucking slays. it feels so fucking good being able to play heavy music and have it sound like heavy music, not like a clean guitar being dragged through the mud.

the very second i can afford it, i plan on buying another one - but next time, with a sunn cab. national acrobat's setup from page one is totally killer. where do you find those cabs? ebay is bust, you can't find a single good craigslist post for gear in WV to save yr life, so where do i turn? i rally, reall would love to get something similar to those 3x15zz(that's what they are, right?), i bet they sound crazy!

actually, you may be able to help me out. when turned on, it makes a vague, annoying noise - like basic amp scratching crap. could that have something to do with how the impedance was set? i guess my cab is 8ohms, but the head was set to 16. i didn't get a chance to hear it once i turned the head back down to 8, so i'm hoping that that's it.

nobody cares about my rig ; (

anyway, what's the benefit to running two cabs with one head? this sounds great, so i imagine it just causes less breakup/noise and spread the sound out a little better. am i on the right track? thinking about getting either a sunn coliseum or concert lead when i get my next check, cause they're so cheap, and also getting some actual sunn cabs to go with it. but say i want to add another cab to my current rig. what would that accomplish?

If you're going to do it... I would highly recommend getting different speakers in the other cab. I'm picking up a 4x12 Emperor with V30's this week and later on I'm getting a 2x12 with G12-65's. If you get all the same speakers, the only thing you're going to accomplish is being a little louder. If you mix it up, you'll have a more layered and textured sound. Lower wattage speakers have a better natural break-up/distortion to them... but sometimes lack the clarity at higher volumes when dealing with high gain amps. Higher wattage speakers, I have found to be the exact opposite. The natural break-up isn't as easy to obtain, but they SCREAM.

Mix it up. Try out different shit. You'll be happy you did.

You push more air and get a little volume increase. Get another head and cab. That's the way.

Also, running a 2x12 with a 4x12 is weird at times cause the 2x12 gets the same power and will break up much faster which isnt necessarily bad (I run a 6x12 thats based on a similar idea).

@ 3000 pc mcnugget

call me a "purist" if you will, which i am, but reasoning for people shitting on the amp you bought is because it's not a sunn amp, rather a Fender amp branded with the sunn name. it holds no characteristics of the vintage Model T soundwise or hardware wise. I'm sure it's a killer amp for what you're looking to do and if i could play one i'm sure i'd like some aspects of it as well. If you want my honest opinion, when i had my 73 i loved it, but there was so much more i could have gotten out of an amp, which is why i let mine go after a few years. I got the trade for my 1200s (better amp IMO) and i'm super happy with it. In that example, fender then went and took the name 1200s and branded that onto their line of phony sunn bass rack gear. And yes, my 1200s is a guitar amp. It's purely a brand loyalty thing that gets my feathers riled, alongside people into sunns like myself. With that said though, i'm glad you're catching on and if you're interested in any sunn amps or cabs let me know what you're after and i'll help you find what you might want.

thanks a ton man, i really appreciate that!

i won't be able to for a while, but like i said i'd love to get a coliseum or a concert lead and some sunn cabs. i love yr rig and would be really pleased with a similar cab setup, like the 4x15s(that's what those are right? the tall ones) or maybe a 6x12. it sucks living here because nobody owns or wants to play cool stuff. help me find a good deal on one of those heads though? i see them around sometimes for relatively cheap. i had a guy offer me a lead for $200 locally, but he said it overheats. he didn't know how to fix it and i don't know how much i'd have to put into something like that so i passed. bad move?

yeah though, i'd like to get one of those heads.

i don't have anything besides the 2x15 from that original picture. they were 412sr column speakers, originally sold in '68 as PA speakers. for pushing out shrill and just battering volume, they were great, but tonally they could have done more for me. Plus they were a bitch to transport!

unless you're going for bass, totally go tube on the sunn's dude. the solid state is cool if that's what you're into, but for real, the true vintage tube heads are where it's at. you can score 60/80 watters at a good price too with my help that would make you turn your head. as far as the overheating goes, that's a common problem with solid state amps. 200 bucks for an amp that you need repaired, it was a wise move to pass it. i bought the concert bass in that first picture for 250 bucks shipped, i've since given that to my friend Mathias from Sweden, he uses it in the band Death is Not Glamorous now. the tall cabs i gave to a sunn collector/restoration guy in my loop and the model T i traded away to a guy in CT for my 1200s. I got kind of a steal on that trade because when i had my caps changed a bad solder was giving me some problems with the amp.
