"People are idiots to not observe how much better we are then other countries. We're top in everything but our teaching skills. There's a reason why everyone is trying to get into our country."

I'm not going to look up the stats yet again... but, Matt.. we are NOT the top in everything. You just assume we are. We are not. Not in standard of living. Not in happiness. Not in many other things.

Yes, there are some countries we top in everything... but not all of them.

the way you cry about it, i feel like it's not your country. some people would be happier somewhere with more government programs. I just wish some people would have the balls to follow their dreams.

I'd be happier if this country.. the one I was born in, the one I am a citizen of, the one I would prefer to stay in would actually gets it collective head out of its ass reform its democratic process, start investing in things like the economic welfare of all citizens by addressing things like education, healthcare, and childcare that not only benefit recipients of those things but also benefit the entire society by reducing drug use, crime, poverty, child abuse, etc...

I stay in this country because I want to see this country prosper and truly be a beacon of hope and light to the world. That is why I don't pretend there are no problems, refuse to address the ones I admit, or make excuses for horrible, inhuman, unamerican, and/or criminal behavior by our government.

yeah, i'd hate to leave it up to harvard to teach my kids for free under a nationalized system if they were smart enough to get in.
that sure would suck.

yeah cause Harvard would continue to be the school it is today if funded by taxes....do you honestly believe that???

Dude... Harvard is funded by a huge endowment.. not by tuition. They get tons of donations from alumni, etc... and invest their money wisely. There has even been discussion of not charging tuition for undergrads, though that isn't likely to actually happen due to various internal fiscal programs.

it seems people did not read one of my previous posts....i'm not really talking about University's/College.

derr... yeah, i guess it's too much to expect you to know what the thread is about before you open your big pie hole.
