Biography:
"The forceful melodies of Across Five Aprils began in September of the year 2001 in Chattanooga, TN. The band was comprised of five young friends from three different musical endeavors which had concurrently disbanded a few months prior to A5A's incarnation. Something special was in the air the first time these boys played together, they knew what they had would be something special and it would bring something new to the musical table. Their first set of songs would come to be known as the "Twenty-Three Minutes and Forty-Two Seconds of Scenic City Rock 'n Roll" EP, released in March of 2002. This short but sweet recording set a precedent for what the future held for this newly rearranged quartet consisting of Drew Miller, Jason Barry, Zak Towe, and Jason Fields. The band's next agenda was to exhibit their talents to the often skeptical crowds of the dirty south and the east coast. They did so with blue-ribbon quality and received an unsuspecting amount of acclamation. Wanting to further the quality of their sound, especially for the live shows, they decided it would be smart to add-on a front man, someone to represent what they were as a band. So in the late summer of 2002, Across Five Aprils added vocalist Steve Taylor to their ever-developing arsenal. After Steve came into the picture, the band came into more shows, more recognition, and they were ready to accept this new demanding schedule. Continually writing and constructing fresh material, they decided it was time to record their debut full-length in March of 2003. The album "A Tragedy In Progress" was released by Indianola Records in May of 2003, and the first pressing sold out in mere months. As far as being the lead singer goes, this album was the last testament for Steve in A5A. Vocal duties were taken back over by guitarist Jason Fields, and a new guitarist Jarrod Smith took his place on the axe. The summer of 2003 was full of non-stop shows and touring, they even garnered in excess of 150,000 plays on mp3.com before it shut down later in the year. During a break from playing shows in the early winter, the band asked Jason Fields to step down from his position as vocalist, due to reasons which the band feels should stay private. After several months of searching for a new vocalist, Steve Taylor made a suprising decision to rejoin the band in March of 2004. The band is currently touring the nation in support of their new EP titled "Living in the Moment" that hits stores September 14th but is available for order now. After touring all summer the band plans to take the fall to write new material for an upcoming release and shop to labels."

I was a bit sceptical of this release at first.. it sounded like every other hardcore band with clean singing parts, breakdowns, and all that crap. But upon a second listen it started to grow on me. T...[more]
